About Gia

Gia Short is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, licensed in Indiana, with more than 15 years of nursing experience. She provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and personalized medication management for adults, with brief supportive therapy built into visits.

Her clinical focus is ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood concerns and binge eating disorder, with a special interest in weight concerns related to psychiatric medications. She also treats OCD, PTSD and stress.

How Gia works

Gia’s style is warm, open-minded and solution-oriented, and her approach is collaborative, evidence-based and judgment-free. She believes the best outcomes come from working together, and takes the time to listen, answer your questions and build a treatment plan that fits your needs and goals. In the supportive side of her visits she draws on Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Patients who do well with Gia tend to want an active role in their care and a say in decisions about their treatment.

A first visit is a chance to get to know one another. You will talk through your current concerns and symptoms, your medical and mental health history, any previous diagnoses and the medications you have tried. Together you will set treatment goals and decide whether medication may help. If it is recommended, she reviews the options with you, including benefits, possible side effects and what to expect, so you leave with a clear understanding of your plan and the next steps.

Psychiatric evaluation and medication management, delivered by HIPAA-compliant video. Appointment length varies by service: psychiatric evaluations are generally longer than follow-up appointments.
