What happens in an evaluation
Your first appointment will focus on understanding your concerns, your history and your goals. This is what allows us to create a personalized treatment plan rather than a generic one.
Psychiatric evaluations are generally longer than follow-up medication management appointments. There's no need to prepare a speech — your provider will guide the conversation.
What to have with you
- A current medication list, including doses
- Relevant medical and mental health history
- Previous psychiatric records, if you have them
- Psychological testing or GeneSight results, if applicable
- Your questions — writing them down beforehand helps
What happens afterwards
You and your provider will discuss what the evaluation suggests and what the options are. Treatment may involve therapy, medication, or both, and appointment frequency depends on your individual needs, treatment plan and type of care.
